How to get more HVAC leads in winter

What to publish when the call is no heat, how to keep the listing in season, and how a free page holds the jobs you cannot answer.

Winter leads are a different search from July. The person calling at 7 a.m. has no heat. They are not comparing maintenance plans. A page that still opens with air-conditioning repair, or with a tune-up coupon from spring, is answering a season they are not in.

Say the failure they typed

No heat, a furnace that will not start, a heat pump blowing cold air, a thermostat that clicks, and a burning smell are the winter searches. Brand names and efficiency ratings can wait. The HVAC website guide puts the symptom first, and it treats a replacement quote as the wrong opening when the house is cold.

The city has to be in that sentence. A heating page written for a mild winter will read as imported once someone in a real heating climate opens it. These guides are about what the page has to say in places where heat is the job:

They are not a list of leads you can buy. Read the one that matches the houses you drive before you paste a national template onto your town.

Separate the emergency from the estimate

A no-heat call and a system replacement are different jobs. Write the diagnostic price, or say that you quote it after you see the equipment. Say whether a night call is a truck tonight or a voicemail you hear in the morning. A cold house will call the next company if that line is missing.

The form should ask for the symptom, the type of system if they know it, and whether anyone in the house is at risk from the cold. You do not need the model number to decide to roll a truck. You need to know if this is the same day. A form that only asks for an email will sit there while they dial someone who asked for a phone number.

Keep the listing in January

Your Google Business Profile hours are a promise about when a person can reach you. If the listing says you answer until 9 and the phone is in a toolbox at 5, the listing is the thing they will remember. If you take no-heat calls after shop hours, say that in the description. If you do not, set the hours you actually pick up. Holidays have special hours in the profile. Set them for the week you are closed.

Photos of a furnace, a boiler, or a heat pump in the kind of basement, closet, or attic you work in belong on the profile. An outdoor condenser with no winter in the frame does not tell a January searcher that you fix heat.

The calls you miss are the ones already dialing someone else

You will miss some of these. You are in a basement, or you are already on a call. The person who reached voicemail is often already looking up the next company. A tap-to-call number at the top of the site, and a form that still works when your hands are full, is how that request waits in a list until you are back in the truck.

The missed-call calculator turns three numbers you already know into a monthly and a yearly figure: calls missed in a week, the share of answered calls that become a paid job, and the average job. It multiplies those. It does not supply a national close rate.

If the company is still being formed

The start wizard keeps the trade and the city so signup opens with them filled in. The HVAC start guide points at the mechanical license, refrigerant handling, insurance, and the first jobs worth taking. Winter is a poor time to learn that a maintenance visit and a system change-out are different credential questions. Read the state page before you advertise emergency heat.

Create the free site when you want the phone at the top and the request filed where you will see it. The page does not dispatch a truck. It keeps the lead from living only in a voicemail you will hear after the house has hired someone else. If the route is Orlando, the Orlando HVAC page is the local version of what to say. The profile tips for plumbing and HVAC are the listing that should match it. The website cost note separates a free page from the quotes that are still real.

Questions

How do HVAC companies get leads in winter without ads?

Publish a page that names no-heat and the city, keep the Google listing on the hours you actually answer, and give people a form for the calls you miss. Ads can sit on top of that. They do not replace it.

Should a winter HVAC page lead with furnace replacement?

Lead with the symptom and a diagnosis. Replacement is a real job. It belongs after you have shown you can tell a failed ignitor from a system that should be replaced.

What should the quote form ask in winter?

The symptom, the system type if they know it, and whether anyone in the house is at risk from the cold. A model number is optional. A phone number is not.
